2010 - WE ARE THE FUTURE!

The Green Point Stadium Visitor Centre doors close on 30 September 2009.

It has been an honour for the management of the Centre to create and maintain a vibrant hub of 2010 information and excellent entertainment for the public since these doors opened on 4 December 2007. Our vision then was ?to inspire and inform locals and tourists about progress of the 2010 Stadium, and build enthusiasm towards Cape Town as a host City for the 2010 FIFA World Cup??. ?In this time, we have succeeded in creating access for nearly
80 000 visitors to view the wonderful iconic new Cape Town stadium at Green Point through our regular daily tours and other creative programmes such as the 2010 Lecture Series; 2010 Breakfast Series and Tuesday Evening Theatre.

Initiated by the stadium construction joint venture of Murray & Roberts/WBHO JV together with the City of Cape Town, the Visitor Centre was built on the remains of the old
18 000-seat Green Point stadium.

With generous sponsorship from 3 provincial government departments, we have been able to host learners and tertiary education students from local schools free-of-charge. The memorable and emotive shouts of ?2010 ? We are the Future!? - our war-cry for school groups - will ring in our ears for a long, long time.

We have been able to create access for pensioners groups, sports and other local community groups and for rural communities from as far afield as George and Knysna.

Our resident theatre performance, The Greensman, has entranced every visitor, as has the 5-star rated CAD 2010 Stadium Virtual Tour that ended every tour. Clips of this piece of video art, featuring the new 68 000-seater stadium, will continue to appear in many documentary and news clips around the world ? part of our proud promotion of the stadium to national and international media. We have also facilitated media visits to the stadium on behalf of the City of Cape Town, and this imaginative soccer-themed space has been well utilised for corporate functions. Strategic meetings by the City of Cape Town, FIFA and the LOC?s have taken place at the Visitor Centre.

To the JV, the City of Cape Town, Provincial Government, Robert Hormes, Coke,? Adidas and all our supporters, visitors and many friends ? thank you for enabling us to provide such a vital part of the 2010 experience.? We have loved it.

Please direct all future enquiries with regard to venue hire, film and photo shoots? or related visits to Sail/StadeFrance Operating Company on 021 400 9140.
