THE GREENSMAN

A nostalgic, funny and informative multi-media performance The Greensmanabout the rich history of the Green Point Common

The Greensman is a resident one-man multimedia theatre performance at the Green Point Stadium Visitor Centre. It is part of the Stadium Tour offered by the Visitor Centre in the countdown to 2010.??

The Greensman
, a lighthearted account of the sometimes grave history of the green belt stretching ?from the mountain to the sea? - the Green Point Common ? is told through the eyes of the new keeper of the grounds, Zweli.

The production is the culmination of a collaborative effort by some of South Africa?s most talented creatives including Rob van Vuuren, and saw its first performance at the official opening of the Visitor Centre in December 2007.

Cape Town-born Apollo Ntshoko plays the role of The Greensman. His diverse repertoire as an actor, choreographer and musician underpins the outstanding technical ability with which he pulls off this dynamic and energetic role. ?I draw my energy from the audience and their energy and reactions to the unexpected, the dramatic and the many funny moments in this script? he says.?

The Greensman
forms a part of the integrated Visitor Centre experience that includes photographic exhibitions of South Africa?s soccer history; a 3-D virtual tour of the completed 2010 stadium and a view of the Stadium from our third-storey viewing deck. The Greensman can be enjoyed Monday to Saturday in the 130-seater auditorium of the Visitor Centre, the former presidential suite of the old Green Point Stadium.

The Visitor Centre is an initiative of the Murray & Roberts and WBHO stadium construction joint venture and the City of Cape Town. It is the only visitor centre attached to a 2010 stadium in the country and offers an interactive hub providing information about the 2010 stadium to all visitors.
